The Swiss-Italian industrial group Trasteel Holding has announced the successful completion of a deal to acquire the remaining 40% stake in the Italian company BBC Alloys from the seller, Metco. This was reported by Eurometal.
The transaction was carried out by the subsidiary Trasteel International. As a result of the deal, BBC Alloys came under the group’s full control, becoming its wholly-owned subsidiary.
The financial close of the deal took place on 30 September 2026, with the transaction valued at approximately €1.7 million. It should be noted that the controlling stake of 60% in Trasteel had been acquired earlier, in June 2025.
BBC Alloys, headquartered in Milan, is a key supplier to the metallurgical and foundry industries in Italy and across Europe. The company specialises in the trading, processing and distribution of standard and high-purity ferroalloys, as well as base and rare metals. The company’s production and logistics complex in Tortona provides a full range of product preparation services, including crushing, screening, fractionation, sifting and packaging.
According to Trasteel, since its initial acquisition, BBC Alloys has been gradually integrated into the group’s single platform for procurement, logistics and finance.
The company’s performance figures show steady growth. At the end of 2025, BBC Alloys’ revenue rose by 8.7% compared with the previous year, reaching €89 million, whilst trading volumes increased by 8.5%. In the first half of 2026, revenue stood at €63.9 million, compared with €49.3 million for the same period last year (according to unaudited management accounts).
The European Competition Authority has approved Trasteel’s acquisition of the Italian Magona plant in Piombino — a former Liberty Steel asset. The plant employs over 500 people. The Magona plant produces flat galvanised and pre-painted steel products, with an annual production capacity of around 630–700 thousand tonnes of steel products. The Swiss-Italian industrial group Trasteel Holding has announced the successful completion of a deal to acquire the remaining 40% stake in the Italian company BBC Alloys from the seller, Metco.
